Open Permissions & Notifications tab → configure → Update User
Tip: Set the Timeline filter to "All" when searching across multiple timelines.
Arming Sites and Cameras
Arming controls whether event notifications are sent. Both the site and the camera must be armed.
Arm a Site
Go to Sites and toggle the Armed slider:

Arm a Camera
Cameras have two separate controls:
| Control | Options | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| State | Off / Monitor / Record | Whether the camera records footage |
| Armed | On / Off | Whether notifications are sent |
Tip: The Armed toggle only appears for cameras with analytics enabled. To receive notifications, the camera must be set to Record AND have Armed enabled.
From Camera Details
Go to Cameras → select camera → Details tab:

Reducing False Notifications
Camera Analytics (VCA)
Modern cameras with Video Content Analytics can filter events at source:
- Detect only people/vehicles (ignore animals, shadows, foliage)
- Trigger on line crossing or zone entry
- Filter by movement direction
Configure in your camera's web interface, then use Camera Notification Settings to ignore basic motion.
Example: Dahua IVS
Configure under Event → IVS in the camera's web interface:

Cloud Analytics
Third-party ML services like Calipsa and DeepAlert provide advanced classification:
- People vs vehicles vs animals
- Behaviour detection (loitering)
- Object detection (face masks, safety equipment)
Contact TetherX to explore cloud analytics options.
Image Masks
Mask out areas that cause false events (busy roads, moving trees):
- Go to Cameras → select camera → Mask tab
- Paint over areas to ignore
- Save
Notification Filters
Use Camera Notification Settings to:
- Add frequent false positives to Always Ignore
- Keep critical alerts in Always (Video Lost, Tamper, etc.)

Troubleshooting
Warning: Not receiving notifications? Check these common causes:
- Site AND camera must both be armed
- User notification preferences must be enabled
- Event type must not be in camera's Always Ignore list
- TetherX app must have notification permissions on your device
Tip: Too many notifications? Use Camera Notification Settings to add unwanted event types to Always Ignore, configure camera analytics to filter at source, or use the Mask tab to ignore busy areas.
Note: Push notifications are near-instant. Email delivery depends on your provider - check spam/junk if emails are delayed.
